Philip Cameron Florida State Lodge

President Philip Cameron started his Police Career in the Town of Sebring, Ohio as a part time Patrol Officer in June, 1966.
After two years of experiencing the duties and responsibilities of a Police Officer, Phil applied and was hired by the City of Alliance, Ohio as a full-time Police Officer leaving his employment with the Sherwin-Williams Co. For the next two years, Phil continued in his position as a Patrol Officer for the City of Alliance, an agency of approximately 80 sworn Police Officers located in Northeastern Ohio.
Realizing that the winters of Ohio were no longer appealing enough to stay for the long haul, Phil applied and was hired by the City of Fort Lauderdale Florida Police Department on April 30,1970. During his 30 year career, Phil has been Assigned to the Organized Crime Bureau, Planning and Research, Recruiting, Investigative Services Bureau and Patrol Division.
During Phil's Career, he has been named Police Officer of the Month twice, for September, 1976 and in November, 1993 for his organization and delivery of food, water, and supplies for the people of Dade County following the devastation of Hurricane Andrew. Phil was elected to the Fort Lauderdale F.O.P. Executive Board in 1978 and became President in 1989 and has remained in that position for 12 years.
Since 1983, Phil has negotiated every Collective Bargaining Agreement between the City of Fort Lauderdale and the Fraternal Order of Police which will be in effect through September 30, 2003. In 1990, Phil was elected to the Florida State Fraternal Order of Police Executive Board where he currently serves the over 22,000 member organization as President. In 2002, Phil was nominated to continue to serve as President thru 2004. Phil has two sons, David, a Tool and Die Maker who resides in Pompano Beach and Noah, a Public Safety Aide who resides in Fort Lauderdale.
